Statutes amendments and board meetings

When will the amendments to the articles of association approved by the Council be updated online? Furthermore, it appears that nothing has been filed with the Luxembourg Register yet. Please remember to include the agenda item ‘amendments to the articles of association’ in the invitation; I suspect that the Pirate Party of Germany will submit proposals on this. A small request: it would be very nice if board meetings could at least be announced on Discourse again.

Hello Thomas,

Thank you for your questions.

Here are the answers to date:

  • The statutes are in the process of being updated on the website. Meanwhile, you could find them here: Statutes 31-01-2026.
  • The statutes update has been rejected by the Luxembourgish authorities, this is why there is no trace of update in their records. To address the issue, the 21st Council is invited to adopt an article update.
  • The statutes amendments are accessible through the links contained in the email, but this could be made clearer in the future, I concur.
  • We are currently thinking on how to best announce Board Meetings, and invite input from members (written questions), including publishing minutes. We expect a process to be implemented shortly after the 5th Board Meeting.

There is an issue/problem/conflict regarding timeframes between Article 14(7), fourth sentence: “The Board will prepare the meetings and invite all members by email at least one month before the date of the Council meeting.”
and Article 17(3): “All nominations shall be made at least one month prior to the meeting at which the election takes place.”
Ordinary members cannot deliberate on proposing candidates within such a timeframe.

We have two options:

  • to extend the notice period for convening the Council to two months (Only in the event of an election to the Board),
  • or to reduce the timeframe for appointing members of the PPEU Executive Committee (Board) to 15 days.

Dear Thomas and numero6,

Please find below the Board’s reply to your questions and input:

  • Statutes are now up-to-date on the website Statutes – European Pirates
  • The Board Meetings will be announced on Discourse as per updated Rules of Procedure, and we will explore mailing list options
  • The problem in Article 14(7) mentioned by Numero6 can be solved by the Council in its examination of Raman’s statutes update proposal. We would recommend reducing the nomination deadline to 15 days, rather than increasing the notice period to formally convene a Council meeting to allow for more flexibility in case of time sensitive issues.
