Hello everyone,
If I am elected, this will be my second mandate period as Vice Chair of the European Pirate Party. Many of you already know me and have worked with me before - and you know what you can expect. For those of you who don’t know me, I’ve provided some background below:
I’ve been active in the pirate movement since 2018. In the Swedish Pirate Party I’ve been a board member (twice), election coordinator and project manager. I have also set up and standardized our first extensive member survey and our current E-learning platform.
I have been active in the European pirate movement since 2023 when I participated in the security and foreign policy work group for the Common European Election Program. Since then, I have continued to work with international pirate parties to develop policies and co-author articles. In 2024, I was elected to the board as Vice Chair for the first time.
Before joining the Pirate movement, I volunteered in other fields. My previous experience in volunteer roles include:
- Chairperson of a local tenant’s union (Hyresgästföreningen Rinkeby)
- Project manager in the international student organization AIESEC (Australia)
- Environmental representative at Edith Cowan University Student Union (Australia)
- Event organizer, board member and young professional liaison in the Swedish chapter of ASIS International (an industry organization for security managers)
- Lay auditor (conduct/oversight) for the non-profit bank JAK Medlemsbank
Over the years, I’ve faced laziness, predjudice, ignorance, office politics, self-interest and even corruption in these organizations. These are difficult challenges, but as I learned then, they can be overcome when people come together to work for a common goal and you work in a transparent and evidence-based way.
The last few years have been a great challenge to our movement and to democracy as a whole, but I wholeheartedly believe we can overcome our challenges and move forward. The key is to strengthen our community, our organization and our network.
I will contribute to this by encouraging knowledge exchange and personally visiting European Pirate Parties around Europe during 2025. The internet is a wonderful thing that really levels the playing field, but meeting face-to-face helps us connect on a different level.
