Message from Ute Elisabeth Gabelmann:

Dear board members, dear pirates, dear guests,

as you may know Germany today holds a general election. As always for more than twenty years now I do volunteer as member of the election committee which is why I cannot be there with you in person. I consider democracy and freedom as the greatest gifts of our times and wish others and myself to experience this as long as possible. Thank you for your understanding.

So while I contribute to a smooth and correct general election I would like you to know a few facts about me:

I have been a member of the German pirates for sixteen years now, starting in June 2009. I served as executive board member for one term and have been an elected member of the city council of Leipzig for ten years. In between I contributed mostly in the fields of communication and public relations.

My topics of interest are classic pirate stuff: freedom (of thought, of speech, freedom from surveillance), inner security, democracy, political participation.

As chairperson of the German British Society here in Leipzig I personally take great interest in the relationship with the United Kingdom.

I wish to thank the German pirates for trusting me with this candidacy. We live in challenging times and must pool all our strengths, manage our differences and last but not least − stay in touch with communication. I take great pride in being a member of a truly European party and hope that I can contribute to this joint endeavour
