The following email was sent on the European Pirate Party mailinglist on December 20th.
Dear Pirates!
The board of the European Pirate Party has decided to endorse the European Citizens’ Initiative Stop Destroying Videogames at their last meeting. We discussed this initiative at the last Council meeting, and it was agreed that it aligns fully with the aims and values of the European Pirates. You can find our press release promoting the initiative here.
It would be great if you would consider asking your local pirate party to also endorse the initiative, and please share the link where European citizens can sign the initiative on all appropriate: channels.
The initiative was launched by the Stop Killing Games community, which is a volunteer community of activists, who we are thrilled to collaborate with on this topic. To that end, we have invited some of their organizers to a dedicated part of our Discourse to answer any questions you might have about the initiative: Stop Killing Games - European Pirate Party
Please be aware that they could really benefit from experienced volunteers to ensure that the initiative reach the target number of signatures (1,2 million signatures across Europe) before end of July next year, to get the Commission to respond to it. They have already collected over a third of that number, and if you want to help them get the rest don’t hesitate to volunteer to help them. Either by offering to help on our Discourse, or by doing it on their Discord server.
The winter holidays is the perfect time to get involved in the promotion of this initiative, as people will have some time off work or studies to focus on other things. Which gives us all a great opportunity to bring up this issue in conversation with family and friends, as well as to promote it online. So let’s see how far we can get the signature collection before the end of the year!
You can find additional information on the Stop Killing Games website.
I am of course available to answer any questions you might have on this topic.
Finally, I’d like to wish you all some wonderful holidays, and a happy new year!
All the best,
Mab
