Dear European Pirates,
Please find below the formal request to join the organisation as Observer Member, sent by the Minority List of Austria - Danube Federation to the Board, on the 9th of January.
Dear Members of the Board of the European Pirate Party,
authorized by a decision of my political party’s Board dated from January 8, 2026, I do hereby submit the application for Observer Membership in the European Pirate Party for the Austrian political party “Minority List of Austria - Danube Federation” (official name: Minderheitenliste Österreichs - Donauföderation) in accordance with Article 8 of the PPEU Statutes.
We accept all the criteria and conditions for Observer Membership set out in Article 8 of the PPEU Statutes. Furthermore, we expressly and unconditionally support the Pirate Manifesto.
The “Minority List of Austria - Danube Federation” was founded on December 6, 2025 and registered as an official political party in the Austrian party register by the Federal Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Austria on December 29, 2025.
The party registration number is 502149.
The “Minority List of Austria - Danube Federation” combines aspects of a regionalist minority party, similar to e.g. the Swedish People’s Party of Finland or the South Schleswig Voters’ Association (of which I was a parliamentary candidate in 2022) with aspects of political satire, similar to the Hungarian Two-Tailed Dog Party (Magyar Kétfarkú Kutya Párt), which is also an Observer Member of the European Pirate Party.
The “Minority List of Austria - Danube Federation” was founded by members of the Austrian NGO ‘‘Duckological Society’’ (Duckologische Gesellschaft), which is an officialy registered association, registered in the Austrian central register of associations (Zentrales Vereinsregister) of the Federal Ministry of the Interior under the registration number 1203757891.
I have an appointment for January 14, 2026, to meet with Lilia Kayra Kuyumcu, leader of the Pirate Party Germany.
At the meeting, I will also discuss the “Minority List of Austria - Danube Federation” with her.
If there are any questions regarding the seriousness of tis membership application, you may ask her for her personal opinion on the issue after that meeting.
I would be happy to see the “Minority List of Austria - Danube Federation” become a Member of the European Pirate Party.

Minority List of Austria - Danube Federation
For convenience, Observer Members must satisfy the following criteria:
Article 8 – Observer Members
(1) Eligible as Observer Members are
a) All organisations which
(i) strive for similar political goals as expressed in the Pirate Manifesto
(ii) maintain a democratic political base and a democratic internal structure,
(iii) are politically active,
(iv) accept and intend to comply with the regulations of these Statutes and orders of its bodies […]
(4) They have the following obligations:
a) to comply with all the regulations of the Statutes of the Association and all orders of the bodies of the Association,
b) to cease and desist any actions which may harm the Association or are contrary to the objectives and principles of the Association or go against the policies laid down in the Pirate Manifesto or damage the Association in any other way,
c) to stay politically active and participate in elections, if possible and feasible,
d) to send their yearly accounts and election results to the Association or a link to them, if they are published accessable for everyone online,
e) to conduct their financial organisation in a transparent and accountable manner and
f) to report every year to the Association on the party / organisation and policy developments.
